The Importance of Chiropractic During Pregnancy

Chiropractic Can Add Comfort to Pregnancy
A very common complaint of many of my pregnant patients is Low Back Pain. The reason for that is the baby is growing at a rapid rate and the anatomical structures ofthe mother are interfered by this and hence low back pain results.
As the baby grows in the uterus the mother's abdomen increases in size and as a result the curvature of the lumbar spine or the low back increases which compromises normal anatomy and gives the mother-to-be significant pain.
Chiropractic helps to alleviate this pain by restoring normal pelvis motion and therefore reducing pain.
Chiropractic Can Comfort Baby and Help in a Safer Birth
As your baby grows and develops, so does your uterus. It is important to keep balanced posture of the pelvis during the pregnancy so that the
ligaments of the uterus remain equalized and a supportive suspension for the uterus, free of torsion or twisting, otherwise referred to as "constraint to your uterus ".
When the pelvis is unbalanced and the uterus is constrained, the uterus is limited and hence the baby has limited space to develop. Any compromised position for the baby will lead to less than optimal development. This in turn leads to conditions such as Torticollis, in which the baby's head is tilted to one side due to the cramped space in-utero.
In conditions such as this, the labor is much longer and more stressful and painful for both Mom and baby. This also leads to surgical procedures such as c-section or episiotomies or the administration of pitocin, the use of epidurals, forceful pulling on the baby's spine, vacuum extraction or the use of forceps.
All the above means of delivery are difficult labors and are referred to as Dystocia and is something every pregnant woman wants to avoid because they are physically and emotionally traumatic to you and the baby. Research shows that the reasons for Dystocia are caused by pelvic imbalance and its resulting effects on your uterus and baby's position.
Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy restores balance of the pelvic muscles and ligaments and leads to safer and easier deliveries for both you and your baby. Furthermore, research shows that Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy decreases labor time.
Give yourself and your baby the chance for an easier pregnancy as well as a safer labor and delivery.
